Lewis fires manager 10 days before title fight

LONDON (AP) - Hours after being fired as Lennox Lewis' manager, Frank Maloney threatened legal action yesterday against the former world heavyweight champion and described the fighter as 'a monster.' Less than two weeks before his title rematch with Hasim Rahman, Lewis ended his 11-year partnership with Maloney.

Maloney responded by saying Lewis had offered him a contract with a confidentiality clause that amounted to 'slave labor.' 'I will be seeking advice from my lawyers and legal action is a possibility,' said Maloney, who won't be in the Lewis corner for the first time in 12 years and 41 fights. 'I haven't spoken to Lennox in 15 weeks. He hasn't even had the decency to pick up a phone and tell me.'

The British heavyweight said he had terminated the partnership with Maloney after a contract dispute.
