NEW YORK -- After Meb Keflezighi and Deena Kastor made history in Athens, the town of Mammoth Lakes, Calif., where they train, honored them with a parade.

The party came about a month after Kastor won bronze and Keflezighi took silver in Greece, marking the first time the United States won two medals in the 26.2-mile race at the same Olympics.

Keflezighi and Kastor get their chance to show their medals were no fluke Sunday when they run in the New York City Marathon.

Both fields feature several Olympians, but this could be the strongest starting lineup for the women. Kastor must run against defending NYC Marathon champion Margaret Okayo, world record-holder Paula Radcliffe, 2003 third-place marathon finisher Lornah Kiplagat and cross country champion Benita Johnson. Newman/Haas teammates Bruno Junqueira and Sebastien Bourdais come into Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix fighting each other for the Champ Car series title.

Bourdais, who leads with 307 points, needs only a ninth-place finish to take the title only a year after winning the rookie of the year award.

Junqueira, runner-up to Cristiano da Matta in 2002 and to Paul Tracy last year, trails Bourdais by 27 points.
